For quarries & mineral-products sites
Quarry premises compliance planned around production.
Coordinate defined fire, electrical, water hygiene, asbestos, gas, LOLER, HVAC and pump or drainage work for quarry buildings and agreed ancillary assets—without confusing those services with the operator’s quarry-management duties.
The operational problem
The report is only useful when it maps back to the right site, asset and action.
Quarry operators work with specialist contractors across buildings, workshops, welfare facilities and supporting infrastructure. The management pressure is keeping scope, access, records, defects and close-out evidence aligned with the site’s own controls.
01Inspection and service records sit with different contractors, sites and operational teams.
02Service dates are visible, but defects, decisions and close-out evidence are harder to track.
03Dust, water, vibration, corrosion and outdoor exposure affect access and maintenance planning.
04Isolation, permit-to-work and production constraints must be understood before attendance.

The responsible organisation must identify which requirements apply to each premises. These official sources provide the starting point for scope, competence and evidence decisions.
Quarries Regulations 1999
For Great Britain, the Regulations set quarry-specific duties including operator control, the health and safety document, management structure, competence and systematic inspection arrangements.
Review official guidanceOfficial sourceHSE L118: Health and safety at quarries
The Approved Code of Practice explains how quarry duties apply, including the written scheme for systematic inspection, maintenance and testing and how other statutory inspections can be incorporated.

HSE guidance explains that the health and safety document should identify risks, controls, responsibilities, inspection schemes and arrangements for review.

Northern Ireland has separate quarry regulations, including health and safety document, inspection and maintenance and fire-risk provisions.

What stays visible
A controlled view of the agreed premises and ancillary-asset scope.
- Records connected to the correct quarry, building and agreed asset
- Inspection, servicing and thorough examination kept distinct
- Known dates and change triggers visible before work becomes urgent
- Findings assigned to a decision, owner and required close-out evidence
- Scope boundaries recorded so specialist quarry duties are not blurred
Working in the real world
Plan specialist attendance around quarry controls.
The site contact, work area, asset scope, access route, isolations and permit requirements are agreed before attendance. The quarry operator retains control of the site management system and authorises the work.
- Confirm the work area, operating window and site induction route
- Agree isolations and permits with the authorised quarry team
- Use a defined escalation route for significant defects or access constraints
- Return the report against the correct asset and agreed evidence requirement
Technical scope
Relevant property-safety and building-service workstreams, clearly defined.
We establish the instruction, agree access and reporting requirements, then coordinate only the specialist workstreams expressly included in the scope.
Fire safety
Risk assessment and defined life-safety support for offices, workshops, welfare buildings, control rooms, laboratories and stores; quarry-process fire and explosion risks require separately verified specialist scope.
Explore this service 02Electrical / EICR
Inspection and condition reporting for agreed fixed installations and buildings, with HV, process plant and hazardous-area systems expressly excluded unless specialist competence is separately confirmed.
Explore this service 03LOLER
Thorough examination of defined lifting equipment and accessories where LOLER applies, kept separate from routine servicing and the wider quarry machinery regime.
Explore this service 04Legionella
Proportionate risk assessment and control support for welfare showers, hot and cold water, low-use outlets and other agreed water systems.
Explore this service 05Asbestos
Management information and the appropriate survey route for older offices, workshops, stores, welfare buildings and planned intrusive work.
Explore this service 06Gas safety
Defined servicing or safety work for boilers, heaters, canteens and agreed gas assets, with the required competence route confirmed for the actual installation.
Explore this service 07HVAC maintenance
Asset-led maintenance for offices, laboratories, control rooms and welfare accommodation, with F-gas or statutory requirements scoped separately where applicable.
Explore this service 08Pumps, drainage & water
Planned maintenance and condition support for agreed sumps, transfer pumps, packaged sewage, drainage and ancillary water assets; environmental permissions remain outside the service.
Explore this serviceCompliance Plus coordinates only the premises and ancillary-asset workstreams expressly agreed in writing. It does not replace the operator, health and safety document, systematic inspection scheme, site rules or permit controls, and it does not claim geotechnical, explosives, DSEAR, production-machinery, process-safety or environmental-permitting competence. Coverage and specialist availability are confirmed for the service and location before appointment.
Controlled mobilisation
Prove the delivery model on a defined scope.
Begin with one site, one discipline or a selected property cohort. Scope, access, responsibilities and reporting are agreed before any wider programme is considered.
Define the first scope- 01Review
Map requirements, dates, records and priority gaps.
- 02Mobilise
Set scope, access, responsibilities and service dates.
- 03Coordinate
Manage the agreed workstreams and control the resulting evidence.
- 04Report
Confirm report status, findings and the agreed next actions.
Questions
Clear boundaries. Practical answers.
Compliance Plus supports the management, delivery and evidence around property-safety duties. It does not transfer the legal responsibilities held by relevant dutyholders.
Does one EICR cover the quarry electrical inspection scheme?
No. An EICR can address the fixed installation within its written scope, but it does not automatically cover HV systems, mobile or production plant, hazardous areas or every item that belongs in the quarry’s inspection arrangements.
Is a LOLER thorough examination the same as servicing?
No. Servicing maintains equipment; a thorough examination is a systematic and detailed examination by a competent person. The applicable equipment and examination interval must be established for the actual use and circumstances.
Do all quarry water systems need sampling?
Not automatically. The duty is to assess and control the risk proportionately. Sampling or monitoring should follow the risk assessment and written control scheme, not a blanket sales interval.
Can Compliance Plus inspect quarry production machinery?
Not under this offer. The page covers agreed premises and ancillary assets. Production machinery, PUWER assessments, quarry design, geotechnical matters, explosives and hazardous-area engineering require a separate competent specialist and written scope.
Can attendance be planned around shutdowns and permit controls?
Yes. The intended operating window, access, isolation, induction and permit requirements are confirmed with the authorised quarry contact before appointment.
What changes in Northern Ireland?
Northern Ireland has separate quarry and fire-safety legislation. The applicable jurisdiction, dutyholder and technical scope must therefore be confirmed before work is proposed.
One-Site Quarry Premises Compliance Review
Connect the agreed specialist records before commissioning wider work.
Start with one quarry and the premises or ancillary-asset records already held. We will define the review boundary, organise the evidence and show the dates, decisions and close-out requirements that need ownership.
- A premises compliance index
- An inspection-scheme evidence map
- A 12-month programme and prioritised actions
Desk-based evidence review only—not a quarry audit, site inspection, statutory report, certification or legal opinion. Production machinery and specialist quarry duties remain outside scope.
